Further south along Playa Zicatela is La Punta, where the waves are calmer, making it popular with surfers just starting out. This area has plenty of shops offering board rentals and surf lessons, making it the perfect spot to rent a board and try your hand at surfing. If you're brand new to surfing, it's highly recommended to get an instructor. However, keep in mind that because La Punta is a safe, gorgeous little cove protected from the monster waves of Playa Zicatela, it tends to get crowded with beginners.
For those looking to relax, Zicatela's wide and uncrowded coastline offers a perfect spot, though swimming is nearly impossible due to the strong waves. Numerous beach bars provide sunbeds with umbrellas, food, and drinks, making it an excellent place to chill and enjoy the beach atmosphere.
